Davidson: Explore - Fee Details & Qualification Criteria


Fee Details for 2021-2022


Application Fee – Fee is due at the time of application. This application fee (per student) is non-refundable regardless of acceptance to the program.
  • $25 application fee for students returning from 2020-21 Davidson: Explore course.
  • $50 application fee for Davidson Young Scholars applying for one Davidson: Explore course.
  • $75 application fee for Davidson Young Scholars applying for two or more Davidson: Explore courses and all non-Young Scholars applying for a single course.
  • $100 application for non-Young Scholars applying for two or more courses.
Tuition - Tuition for each full-year course is $1,000. Tuition is broken into three payments. We do accept credit card payments for tuition.

Initial Deposit - $200, each course, due two weeks following acceptance.
Fall Tuition - $400 due Aug. 1, 2021 ($100 fully refundable deposit and $100 lab fee for science course due at this time)
Spring Tuition - $400 due Jan. 1, 2022

Families must purchase texts for Writing in the Humanities, Critical Thinking in the Humanities, and Uncovering the Past: World Empires. See course description for approximate costs. Book lists will be sent in early August 2020.

Qualification Criteria


  • be 9 to 13 years of age before the start of the academic year
  • be a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident living in the United States, or a resident of Canada
  • Davidson Young Scholars do not need to submit any qualifying test scores. Non-Young Scholar applicants must submit a qualifying test score. Accepted assessments include school district norm-referenced, group-administered achievement and IQ tests; or individually-administered achievement or IQ test as listed on DITD YS Qualifications page; or a letter from a local school stating that the applicant has been admitted to the gifted program with the criteria for admission.
  • Davidson Young Scholars do not need to submit a recommendation. Non-Young Scholar applicants must submit one positive recommendation from an educator, preferably in the subject for which the student is applying.
  • All Young Scholars will be invited to the assessment process. Our admissions team will review all non-Young Scholar applications. Qualified applicants will be invited for assessment. The application fee is non-refundable even if a student is not invited to the assessment phase.

The Davidson Institute for Talent Development is a Nevada non-profit corporation which is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt private operating foundation. We are dedicated to supporting the intellectual and social development of profoundly gifted students age 18 and under through a variety of programs. Contributions are tax deductible.

Profoundly gifted students are those who score in the 99.9th percentile on IQ and achievement tests. Read more about this population in this article.
